Here are some really good examples of “Hook” or “Slip” passes.
Keys to Making Hook or Slip Passes
- Bring the puck ahead of you. Extend your stick into the passing lane.
- Use your eyes to create deception.
- Rotate your wrists when you make the pass.
Drill: Pass Through the Stick Triangle
This drill will work to practice hook, slip or saucer passes. Replace the cone with a stationary coach or player. Look for other places on the ice to do the same drill (ie. from behind the net to the slot).
