Today, we will protect the puck and turn a 5 card into an solid wall.

Today, sloths don’t exist. Speed will be our friend.

Today, we will give our all, 45 seconds at a time again and again. We will start fast and finish faster.

Today, we will have the courage to try something new and the guts to see it through. Drive the net. Snipe a big goal. Jam home a rebound. Dangle. Score on a penalty shot. Make a game saving stop.

Today, we will be an unstoppable force. Just like Bobby Orr, Mr. Hockey, The Great One, Super Mario, Sid The Kid, Martin Brodeur, Carey Price and everyone else who has ever played with their hearts on their sleeves.

Today, is not about me. Our triumphs and mistakes will be shared by all because we are a team.

Today, our smiles will show the joy we feel when we play and our sweat will be our badge for giving our best.

Today, we will thank our parents and hug them to make sure they understand.

Today, we will raise our arms and sticks up, take a deep breath and let all the world hear our cheer and understand our love for the game.

Today, we will have the strength to be better than all our yesterdays. Tomorrow we will be better still.
